David Gerstein

Biography
A true pioneer, Gerstein was among the first artists to use industrial laser-cutting techniques in fine art. From the 1990s onwards, he moved from wood to steel, coating his sculptures in bold, automotive-grade lacquers. His works, that speak aout cyclists, marathon runners, crowds in motion, capture the vibrant energy of everyday life in a visual language that blends Pop Art, Folk Art and kinetic sculpture into one unmistakable style.
Driven by a deep conviction, Gerstein set out to dismantle the barrier between street art and museum art, creating works that speak equally to the first-time art lover and the seasoned collector. His monumental sculptures now grace more than 40 public spaces in Israel, as well as Singapore, South Korea, China, France, the United Kingdom and Taiwan. His iconic sculpture Momentum in Singapore stands as the tallest public sculpture in the country, soaring to 18.5 metres.
His works are held in the collections of the Israel Museum in Jerusalem and numerous international institutions, as well as in major private collections around the world. In 2016, he was awarded the prestigious Artistic Creation Award in Taiwan.
