SILVIO PORZIONATO

SILVIO PORZIONATO, born in Moncalieri near Turin in 1971, is an Italian figurative painter whose work places the human face and figure at the heart of his compositions. Through portraits often created on a monumental scale, he transforms ordinary individuals into powerful presences, exploring identity, emotion and the passage of time.

After completing his artistic education, Porzionato worked in design for approximately ten years before devoting himself entirely to painting. He developed a practice based primarily on oil and acrylic painting on canvas, often working from photographs of friends or people encountered in everyday life.

His subjects appear in powerful, often monumental close-ups. By isolating faces and placing particular emphasis on the gaze, Porzionato moves beyond traditional portraiture: individual identity gradually gives way to a more universal representation of humanity. His paintings balance realism and introspection with a freer pictorial approach, combining precise features with expressive textures and gestures.

His work quickly gained recognition within the Italian art scene. Selected for the Premio Arte Mondadori, he won the critics’ prize at Saluzzo Arte in 2010 and created a permanent work for Turin’s Museum of Urban Art. In 2011, he was selected in connection with the 54th Venice Biennale. Two years later, his ambitious project Temporal Code brought together a large sequence of portraits representing different stages of life, exploring one of the central themes of his work: the relationship between human identity and the passage of time.

Porzionato subsequently developed an international career, with exhibitions in cities including Hong Kong, Miami, London, Paris, New York, Seoul and Istanbul. In 2021, he also created the 007 Portraits project for Aston Martin, inspired by the world of James Bond.

In 2026, the Guanghui Art Museum in Chengdu presented Timeless, Porzionato’s first solo exhibition in mainland China. Bringing together 22 large-scale canvases from the Blue Series, Faces Series and Temporal Code, the exhibition highlighted his exploration of portraiture, memory and time. During the opening, Porzionato created Anima Blu live, later donating the work to the city of Chengdu.
