A figurative painter, SILVIO PORZIONATO works from photographs of friends and people he encounters, which he translates into close-up, almost sculptural faces on large canvases. After studying art, he spent a decade as a designer for a major Italian company before devoting himself entirely to painting, quickly earning major recognition including the Mondadori Art Prize, the Critics’ Prize at Saluzzo Arte, and a permanent work for the Museum of Urban Art in Turin. In 2011 he was selected for the 54th Venice Biennale, and his work has since been shown in solo and group exhibitions in Hong Kong, Miami, London, Paris, New York, Seoul, Istanbul and beyond.
