SENY

Biography

SENY, whose full name is Seny Meftah, is a French artist from the street art scene of Vitry-sur-Seine whose work places portraiture and the intensity of the human gaze at the heart of his compositions. Through faces drawn from different cultures and backgrounds, he has developed a contemporary figurative practice combining realism, urban art and an exploration of materials.

SENY discovered stencil art at an early age, using it as one of his first forms of expression in the urban environment. Growing up in Vitry-sur-Seine, a city closely associated with the French street art scene, strongly influenced the development of his visual language. He later studied at the École Boulle in Paris, where he expanded his approach to volume, materials and composition.

His practice combines a wide range of techniques and surfaces. Spray paint, acrylic, oil paint, stencils and metal come together in layered compositions. SENY notably works with metal and oxidized surfaces, integrating their irregularities, marks and textures directly into his paintings. The contrast between these raw materials and the precision of his portraits gives his works an almost sculptural depth.

The gaze is one of the most recognizable elements of his work. His portraits, particularly his representations of children from around the world, seek to convey more than physical likeness: they reveal a presence, an emotion and an individual story. This approach was notably explored through his All Kids Are Heroes project, dedicated to childhood and the diversity of human experience.

His work has gradually expanded beyond the Parisian art scene. SENY has notably created a mural in Miami’s Wynwood district and continues to explore the boundaries between painting, street art and large-scale interventions.
