"Miroir des Mondes" brings together two anthropomorphic apple quarters and two gilded lips drawn close, their golden patina glowing against the deep red of the bronze. In keeping with Rayou's sculptural language, Miroir des Mondes explores the tension between nature and humanity : between the flesh of the fruit and the flesh of the body. The two halves face each other like two faces searching for one another: a play of symmetry that evokes desire, duality, and the universality of living things. The work embodies the artist's signature vision: indulgence becoming sensuality, a fruit becoming a being.
Dominique Rayou, a self-taught sculptor born in Bordeaux in 1957 and based in Beynac, is celebrated for his ability to breathe human presence into organic forms. His numbered bronzes, cast using the lost-wax technique, are held in private and institutional collections across France and internationally.
