Impermanence XXL is a bronze sculpture by French artist
Dominique Rayou, part of one of his most emblematic series, in which natural forms subtly transform into human silhouettes.
Through the generous curve of a bitten pear, the artist reveals the lines of a female body, creating a visual interplay in which fruit and human figure seem to merge into a single presence. Organic matter becomes skin, while the volumes of the bronze become body, resulting in a sculpture that is at once sensual, poetic and instantly recognisable.
In this XXL version, the artwork takes on a truly monumental dimension. The change in scale amplifies the curves, the depth of the patina and the way light interacts with the bronze, giving the sculpture a particularly powerful presence within the space. Designed to be viewed from different angles, Impermanence XXL gradually reveals its dual language between organic abstraction and the representation of the human body.
The title of the work evokes the fragility of life and the passage of time. In contrast with the fleeting nature of flesh and the natural world, Dominique Rayou chooses bronze, a material associated with permanence and durability, creating a tension between what disappears and what art is able to preserve.
With Impermanence XXL, Dominique Rayou transforms a familiar form into a monumental contemporary sculpture, where sensuality, humour and poetry come together. Its spectacular scale makes it particularly suited to large interiors, private collections and architectural environments in which the sculpture can fully interact with its surroundings.
