Fabien Novarino
Biography
Fabien Novarino, born in 1963 in Chambéry, is a renowned French artist in the field of Neo Pop Art. His passion for drawing, painting and model-making began in his childhood, spent in the heart of the Alps, and developed further when he moved with his family to the south of France. This change of environment had a profound influence on Novarino and strengthened his determination to become a painter.
After studying literature and abandoning a business career at the age of 27, he devoted himself fully to his passion. Initially influenced by the Provençal School, Novarino explored various figurative subjects before broadening his artistic horizons to include contrasting urban landscapes such as New York and Paris. From 2010 onwards, Novarino integrates photography into his creations, adopting a more contemporary language and diversifying his mediums with photography, graffiti and collage on canvas and aluminum.
His works are inspired by icons from American and French cinema, modern urbanism and the world of Comics, making his art a vibrant tribute to popular culture and the entertainment society. The themes of his recent works embrace large megacities and landscapes with infinite horizons such as Morocco, marking a broadening of his thematic field. Novarino is also renowned for his solo exhibitions in France and abroad, with works in numerous private and public collections around the world.
Since 2010, his work has evolved towards Neo Pop Art, mixing digital works based on personal or professional photos with more traditional oil-on-canvas creations. He expresses a fascination with urbanism, cinematic icons of the 50s and 60s, as well as French film stars and comic strips, often approaching vanity through his works with subtle messages or references.
