Banksy

BANKSY is one of the most famous and enigmatic contemporary artists of his generation. Active since the 1990s and closely associated with the British street art scene, he has developed an instantly recognizable body of work through the use of stencils, dark humor and socially engaged messages.

His identity remains unknown, reinforcing the aura of mystery that has always surrounded his work. His compositions frequently feature children, rats, police officers, soldiers and figures drawn from popular culture. Behind an often accessible and ironic aesthetic, Banksy addresses subjects such as consumer society, war, political authority, inequality and the role of art in public space.

Banksy first gained international recognition through interventions in urban spaces in Bristol, London and many cities around the world. Some of his most iconic works, including Girl with Balloon, Flower Thrower and Love is in the Bin, have become major images of contemporary art and street art.
